Our History

Sumora was started by two high school friends who had been diving together off the ruggedly beautiful South African Zululand coastline for years, known for its big fish and frisky sharks.  Russell Andersson and Craig Heslop felt Rabitech Railguns from South Africa were great tools: maneuverable, highly accurate, and powerful, and thus they brought the guns to sell in North and South Americas.

After being a customer who loved the guns, avid spearfisher Erik Sun came aboard to form a new partnership with Craig, as Russell became busy with Hedgestreet, an options and futures trading site that he co-founded.

Since then, we have been expanding to offer Sumora gear throughout the North and South Americas, not only working retail but wholesale operations as well.

In Summer 2005, Craig qualified to SA spearfishing nationals through the "D" team and placed an impressive 6th place finish, considering his minimal training.  This year he has been named to the "A" Team, using Sumora's railguns.

In 2006, Sumora Customer Ritchie Zacker won the National Team Trophy using Sumora's Apex and Stealth railguns in Florida.

Please feel free to contact Erik or Craig with any questions relating to spear-fishing.  We are here to help!
